The take
“A slalom race ski that somehow ended up in a retail shop. It still thinks it's on the World Cup.”
The Redster S9 is Atomic's top-tier slalom platform. 68mm waist, full camber, Ultrawall construction, titanal and Revoshock dampening. This is a race ski — it happens to be available with retail bindings, but make no mistake about what it is.
The edge hold is absolute. On hard snow, ice, and groomed hardpack, it locks in and doesn't let go. The Revoshock S technology adds dampening between the ski and binding interface, which smooths out vibrations at speed. At 3,181g in the 165, it's heavy — but that weight is all going into stability and power transmission.
12.5m radius at 165 is slalom geometry. Short, quick turns. If you've skied FIS gates, this feels like home. If you haven't, it'll feel aggressive and demanding. The ski wants to be pushed. It rewards proper technique and punishes everything else.
This is not a ski for most people. It's for the ex-racer who wants to carve arcs on empty morning groomers, the Masters racer who needs a training ski, or the expert who simply wants the most edge grip money can buy.
