Kids Ski & Snowboard Gear Guide
Getting your kid on the mountain doesn't have to be expensive or complicated. For kids under 10, seasonal rentals almost always make more sense than buying — they grow fast. When buying, prioritize boot fit and a proper helmet above everything else.
Rent or Buy?
Under 10: rent. Our seasonal kids rental starts at $179 for the whole winter. Once growth slows around age 11-12, buying becomes worthwhile — start with boots.
Helmet First
Non-negotiable. Kids fall. A lot. Look for MIPS, snug fit (one finger under chin strap), and a helmet that sits level — not tilted back.
Ski or Snowboard?
Ages 3-6: start with skiing. They need the stability of two independent legs. Ages 7+: let them choose. Neither is better — pick whichever gets them excited.
FAQ
What age can my child start skiing?
As young as 3 on our indoor ski machine (Tiny Slider program). For mountain skiing, most kids are ready at age 4-5 with proper lessons and equipment.
Do you offer kids seasonal rentals?
