The take

Three seasons in and I still grab it more than anything else on the wall.

Three seasons on the Mirus Cor. 87mm, 13m radius, swallowtail. The short radius does most of the work — every turn just falls in. Forward mount and the near-symmetric shape mean switch and butter come naturally. On groomers you lay it over and bend it. In bumps and trees, the short radius pays off.

Not a powder ski. 87mm and a soft middle won't carry you past six inches. Gets pushed around in chop at speed. Ice grip is OK, not great. None of that's a problem at Mt. Hood unless you're looking for one.

Bindings we'd pair with it

Mount point: -3.5 cm from true center. Our pick: Look Pivot 14.

  • Look Pivot 14Freestyle / park

Long elastic travel, takes a crash without releasing. Best match for the Mirus Cor's freestyle leanings.

  • Marker Griffon 13 IDAll-mountain everyday

Most popular pairing. Mid-DIN, works for almost any skier.

  • Tyrolia Attack 14 GWLight setup / value

Lightest of the three options. GripWalk compatible. Good price.

Heavier or more aggressive skiers should step up to Pivot 14 or Marker Jester 16. Lighter skiers can drop to Squire 11.
